In 1965 Borley meets with businessman Mr. Bill Jiry, Bill expressed an interest in putting together a professional style lacrosse team and enters it into the junior “A league”.

That league rejected that proposal outright, so Jiry set his site on the junior B league; the Athletic club consisted of many of Harvey’s school friends.

Well known body builder, trainer Mr. Ben Hoskins and Borley start developing the players into game shape. The Athletics win all their games and qualify to play in the finals in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

A Canada wide train strike changes the travel plans and the team is forced to take Greyhound bus lines, boredom was the main concern so Borley shows the players the proper way to pack beer so their was no breakage. Borley purchases 48 cases of beer. Off the team goes to Winnipeg for the western Canada championship.

Harvey has a sister living in Winnipeg and uses her old ford to take some of the players to town , on the way back to the hotel after one too many pops the driving became a team effort with the captain Ray Bennie steering Mel Hood using the brakes and Bill McMurchy managing the gas all with Borley giving directions,

Arriving back at the hotel Harvey curates a timely diversion by calling backup coach Benson on the house phone to talk about the weather; lineup changes etc, while the players sneak into their rooms.

The next day Borley refurbished the player’s beer stock.

The entire player knew the code word, if the knocker said H B.

(Hide the beer.)

The Athletics laughed and fumbled through the two games despite a secret weapon by the Manitoba team (a six foot nine native Indian) winning both games and qualified for the Canadian Championship.

A few of the fellow management, deemed that Borley held to much control over the players and arrange a ticket home, the team rebelled against the prospect of losing Borley, but Harvey been of vast resources and savvy pointed out certain indiscressions by one exertive and any thought of Borley’s exit , were quickly rescinded.

Ray Bennie the Athletics team captain considered the next super star been compared to the fall of famed Mr. Jack Bondia , a stick handling wizard in the sport of lacrosse, haled Borley as the greatest savor of boredom in travel,  keeping the player’s loose on that slow five day bus ride east.

The Athletics play the Cornwell Wildcat losing the first game before shaking off the travel lag and winning the remaining games to win the Canadian Lacrosse Championship.

Rick Burline, Gary Gerrard and Pat Allen looked after the farm while Borley is on tour, about a year before,  the farm was broken into while Harvey was on tour and the RCMP in Burnaby had recovered the house hold goods, color TV, stereo ect.

Harvey, when he was home, played a game called yards, kicking the football from one end of the field to the other, pushing the other receiving player back to a goal line, to score a point, the first to reach 21 was the winner and gets a free keg of beer.

Rick Burline decides to go back home to Edmonton Alberta, to see his parents,   he was gone about two weeks, when he arrived back at the farm he was very distant and his eyes were as wide as saucers, he complained about fire trucks following him, (up in the sky) Borley well finding his behavior different and some what disturbing, has to leave on tour with the English Band Wishbone Ash, Climax Blues Band.

They go on and tell him that Mr. Berline had gone into Borley’s bedroom and taken a 30/30 Winchester riffle , pointed the weapon at the roommate Gary Gerard demanding Borley keys to the old Plymouth (up on blocks,)

Berline had jumped into the car and started it only to find that he was going no where.

Berline than jumped the fence and  pointed the riffle through the neighbors window, demanding the neighbor give him his truck keys, the man so scared ran and jumped out of the back window of the house through black berry bushes, seriously cutting and scratching himself in his escape. Leaving his wife to handle the matter, she just handed Rick the keys and he drove away. Firing the gun in the air, yakking and yelling keep back or I’ll shoot.

The lead officer goes on to ask if Borley knew where Mr. Berline might be heading, Borley has no idea.

Shortly after the officer is called back to his cruiser and after awhile, he come back to Borley and tells him that Beirline had been taken into custody at the Burnaby RCMP station, where he was shooting the windows out of the police station, with the cleaning staff diving for cover

Berline facing a fully pissed off police officers all packing full assault riffles surrounded Berline and demanded that he throws down the weapon , Whereas he tells the on coming police that he was just here to pickup Borley’s color TV. It was later found out that, Berline had taken horse tranqlizers

Another group that Borley has developed into a headliner was, Nazareth from Scotland, Harvey promotions using good support acts to builds the bands drawing power, a Canadian tour of sold out shows, leaves Victoria, British Columbia the last of the sold out performances, the night before Nazareth had twenty thousand fans dancing and singing along with the band, Nazareth pulls a no brainier and chouses to stay in Vancouver to attend another sold-out show featuring Deep Purple,

Nazareth standing in the wing clapping along with that band, while twelve thousand wet fans were waiting out side the Victoria arena to get into their show. Harvey arrives by limo and after seeing the crowd and having his road crew tell him that the band was still in Vancouver and they did not want to come over to the island, Harvey becomes so pissed, that he arranges to steal the band’s equipment right off the airliner that was leaving for Australia.  The start of Nazareth’s Australia and New Zealand tour. The band shows up, no gear no shows.                                                                                                                                                                The Royal Canadian Mounted Police show up at Borley’s residence and knowing about the band poor behavior by not showing up in Victoria for its fans, tells Borley that the band equipment that he removed off the jet was in bond and belong to the Canadian government and could not be disposed of, the equipment is stored in his brother in law Ron Potter’s garage for three weeks till compensation is worked out to Harvey’s satisfaction.

                                                   29

On the next tour Borley again has Vancouver sold out, Nazareth does not want to honor the terms, worked out by their agent, manager and Borley. After the show the band storms the box office and attacks Mr. Gary Switlo and Tom Worrall, Gary takes no shit from the band and calls the Vancouver police who dispatched the Coliseum riot squad.

The squad arrives and the band is paid their contracted monies and escorts from the box office staff and Borley out of the building.

Nazareth goes back to Scotland and writes a song about Borley called “Vancouver Shake Down” and Borley starts his own recording company called ASTRO RECORDS and writes and releases his rebuttal song called” Messin with the Bull Gets the Horn”.

To this day the group Nazareth takes the position that they were right and they never let on, that they were wrong for showing total disrespect and breaching their contract with Borley and blowing off their Victoria fans.

Borley’s side of the story had been documented by the press of the day, including the famous columnist writer of the Vancouver sun Mr. Jack Wasserman

The band Nazareth try to start a rumor that Borley could not pay the bands fees but were soon faced with the question that every date Borley had contracted with Nazareth a fifty percent deposit was forwarded six month before the tour started, that the band quickly re tracted that story.

This once mighty band has been renegade to the status of a bar band having trouble filling three hundred people,  a far cry from Harvey’s twenty to thirty thousand people per show.

Joe Walsh of the famed band the James Gang leaves that act and starts the Joe Walsh and Barnstorm band, along with Joe Vitale, Rocke Grace and Kenny Passarelli, Borley takes the band on a North American tour and one funny time after the each show the normal course is to go to the areas best restaurant and enjoy a great meal,

In this case in Vancouver, Harvey takes the entroge to New Westminster’s King Neptune a storied sea food restaurant for the wealthy; the restaurant sits out on pilings on the mighty Fraser River

While enjoying lobster, calamine and other fine cuisine Joe Walsh fires a tomato shrimp at Rocke and misses him but strikes the elderly lady wearing her best flock and furs. The lady very upset starts screaming at Joe, Who simply tells her he was trying to hit that guy pointing at Rocke

And would she be so good as to pickup the shrimp and wing it at his intended target,

To Borley dismay the lady fires it at Rocke and a food war breaks out the whole restaurant goes crazy with the staff all looking in dismay.

After it settled down and everyone was laughing, the manager presented Borley a bill for two thousand dollars for broken glasses and cleanup.

                                                                31

Another strange event by one of Borley’s acts was the band called Bad Finger from England the band was the first recording act to be signed to the new label given to the Beatles called Apple Records.

Bad Finger singer Peter Ham a strong look alike to Sir Paul McCartney complains through out the north America tour to each of their new recording company, Warner Brother repersintive that he wanted the money own to him from the recording company, and that his manager Stan Polley had robbed the bands Bank account.

Borley explains to the Ham and the band that fifty percent of the total agreed to performance fee has been pre paid to their American Booking Agency, with the other fifty percent paid on installments to their road manager at the start of each city performance as per the contract.

Borley goes on to tell them that the normal coarse of any recording contract is quartiley or annually full disclosure of sales (units) sold and the payment to the artist his percentage.

But in this case he refused to take any of each local company repersintive explanation and walked away to pout, on the last date in Vancouver the local

Warner Brother’s record repressive Mark Wilson a close friend of Borley’s gives him the heads up regarding the Peter Ham complaints                                                                                                                                                                         The day of the show Wilson’s is been verbally beating by the artist back stage,  going on about the accounting process, when Borley rescuers the A&R man,  On excusing himself  Mr. Wilson tell the Artist that he would look into the matter for him, he leaves happy and goes on stage a performs a very good show.

The next day the band fly’s home. Borley is astonished to learn that upon the Pete Ham arrival home on April 24th 1975 he had gone into his garage and hangs himself.

                                                   32

Some of the best acts Borley have promoted

The first surprise was the group called Manfred Mann earth band , Manfred a old sixty’s act, the band came on stage and laughed and played old songs from Do way a Ditty to the new songs and interacted with the audience, great act , great show.

The second was the late Rory Gallagher and his band, Rory had the magic, he could play guitar with the best and had the ability to dance and move will playing.

A close third was the energy of Tina Turner the lady can sing and move all through her show set.

                                                          33

The English Group called Electric Light Orchestra a band that consisted of old time rocker Mr. Jeff Lynne, drummer Bev Beven and keyboard player Richard Tandy and Bassist Kelly Groucutt to the best of classical music violinist Mr. Mic Kaminski of the London Phil Harmonicas and Colin Walker, Mike Edwards, belly bouncing their cello’s, all around the stage, as the band played their reminiscing of the great classical piece called Roll over Beethoven, that song was played on the hit parade of the Worlds rock stations. In Vancouver the band receive word that they had just achieved a gold record in Canada, Harvey steps on the stage between songs to invite the bands record company executives to come on the stage, The record company presents to the band a gold record, for record sales in Canada, the band receives a thunderous applauses from their sold out fans.

Jeff Lynne leaves ELO and joins George Harrison in the new band called the Traveling Wilburys; playing with such guest players as the late great Roy Orbinson, the band remained together till the unfornaunt death of Harrison

                                                         34

Borley memory of sick act.

Borley has a step son named David Trott.  born with fetal alcohol syndrome take a young girl Jessica Russell, (at the fathers suggestion,) tells a drug induced kid by Russell’s own drugs, David a just released convict to take his daughter for a ride to school, Mr. Russell knowing that the van was a stolen vehicle as he had taken in trade the vans stereo system in exchange for a cap of heroin and a flap of speed,

David hears about Jessica’s life with her drug dealing dad and how she’s been abused by her dad’s drugs buddies. David decides her life should be spared from this life of misery and he kill’s her.

The most annoying event to this needless tragedy was that Trott tells the releasing Judge not to let him out , he is delusional and still on medication called goof juice administered by the prison staff “he was dangerous and going to kill someone”, that Judge said no room to keep him and sprung him free.

Harvey is astonished to have a large amount of people call him wanting to have him act as a federal  responsive for Feadual Alcohol Syndrome  causes Harvey turns them down but , soon understands the mental understanding of a person so effected when his own step daughter another person born with FAS contacts her real father and meets his brother, a married man with children and a prison guard by trade , He is caught performing a indecent act by one of Harvey’s friends , who pulls Tina out of his car and lays a thumping on the Trott brother all the while Tina claims she is in love, as a 14 year old. With her uncle.

                                                      35

Richard picks up two young boys and takes them back to his room at a Vancouver hotel, where he has the boy’s dump their feces in baggies in Lou of going to the bathroom, all this through the week he is performing at the club.

The day he’s to check out, the maid enters to clean up the room and finds the baggies in the bed forming the outline of where Little Richards slept.

                                              37

Another funny instance was.

In the seventies their were the standard

performance contracts alone with a special contract called a rider, This called for the bands special considerations such as food, appetizers and drinks and if the band was a big act needing special goods, as health care products doctors, girls or drugs.

                                     38

In the case of the Allman Bro. Band the special request was coke, Borley would not propagate as supplier but knew who was dealing and introduced each other and walked away. When Borley walked by the dressing room he sees Greg Altman with a huge pile of cocaine on the table

cutting it up with a razor blade he scoops up a large helping and has a big snort as he finished a second snort he sits up in the chair takes a deep breath his eyes roll around and falls face first into the pile, a huge cloud plumes around his head, six thousand dollars worth blew all around the room.

When Greg picked up his head his face and hair was covered he just smiled and said gooooood shit

Borley got caught in a bad situation

Borley has an on going running battle with Justice Hogarth of the Supreme Court of British Columbia, the same Justice ruled in Chambers on behave of Borley, next thing Borley is summoned back into Chambers two weeks later for the very same application, before the same Justice, Whereas Hogarth Jumps out of his bench and yells at Borley that, “he would have Borley shot”

Borley snickers at the Justice and tells him in front of a large number of Lawyers awaiting their application to be heard.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  “Borley tell the Judge that they could meet, down on Columbia Street at high noon, with their six guns strapped to their side, but he was sure the local Police dept would arrest both and throw away the keys”, the gallery has a BIG LAUGH,  all the while Hogarth fumes.

                                                               40

At Borley’s next appearance before the crooked Justice Hogarth he does a about face and says that he did not make such a ruling (the Court Reporter records clearly show that the ruling been made and recorded) Hogarth jumps out of his seat and pounding down the gravel, rules for the Plaintiff.

Borley complains that the Judge has already ruled for him in this matter and that he is a crooked Judge like Roy Bean and must resign, quit, vacate the bench,

Borley proclaims that the Judge, is not worthy of been a Judge for a girl’s marble tournament.  Hogarth storms off his bench, Borley, with wife Charlotte and Captain Foster, vacates the Court.

Borley wife Charlotte meets Mr. Tony Varranio of Toronto, Ontario through one of her contact with the Bank of Montreal, that manager assures her and Borley that they would be doing a great service to the bank. The bank was experiencing a growing number of bank frauds and was ancouse to rectify this growing problem would they be able to help.

All was needed was a few bank cards with the pin numbers, Borley questions the motive and receives assurances with a Bank of Montreal contact.

Borley feeling confidant that every thing was on the up and up, agrees to help. Charlotte even presents her own card to Mr. Varranio.

The next thing Borley’s Secretary Marie receives a call from her daughter that her bank has a short fall, all been caused by depositing of supposedly a false deposit,

And told to go home.

Borley calls Justice Hogarth a crook, who instigated the ship removal and created this personal vendetta, that started against Borley’s stepfather who accuses Hogarth the lawyer of dipping into the Internationals woodworker funds for his person use ,.back in the fifties.

Borley takes this matter all the way through the Appeal Court, and then on to the full Appeal Court. finally on to the Supreme Court of Canada auguring that the Judge Hogarth was a embarrassments in making death threats and rendering a decision then the following weeks, and then changes his ruling (the Court records prove that fact) The self serving decisions from the bench, Threats from the bench that Court not wanting to rule against one of their own Tells Borley that since he out and free the matter ends here.

The Supreme Court of Canada,

Borley’s argument before the Supreme Court of Canada is that a person in authority especially one as high as a Justice of the Supreme Court of British Columbia , must act above and beyond of personal bias and to stop any perceived chance of miscarriage of justice.

And the Court must insure that anyone in authority never misuse or mistreat his or hers position of authority.

Borley goes on to express that this issue has very deep meaning to all Canadians and asks that this appellation be heard by this full Court. As again the issue here is it has importance to all Canadians.

The Court Rules that this issue has no importance to Canadians and refuses to have the full Court hear this matter, the Supreme Court of Canada dismisses Borley’s application.

The Chamber audience and Borley realize that this is not a normal Court practice.

Borley is asked by the Justice Mc Taggart on behave of the Chief Justices, would he accept a position as a licensed member of the Bar? In the Province of British Columbia

Borley is set back but thanks the Justice for considering him in such high esteem, Borley goes on and tells the Judge that he doesn’t have the education to compete with the likes of the lawyer present in this chambers hearing,

The Justice tells Borley that the records have shown the he has represented himself in a high standard over the years and that having been prepared documents and appeared before the highest Court in Canada, representing and conducted himself in a very professional way. The Justice tells him that the Court knows he has what it takes.

The Justice goes on to offer Borley a professor from the University of British Columbia to guide him through any legalities , Borley asks if that means he was to go along with the normal?,  “that he could not argue his point till he made the Court understood his point.”

Justice McTaggart tells Borley that be would have to abide to the code of all fellow lawyers.

Borley tells the Judge thanks but no thanks and says good bye, The Gallery of lawyer’s relielizes that they were witnessing the system trying to force Borley to buckle under, and applaud him as he leaves Chambers.

Borley is sent a letter from CN Rail advising that CN Rail was a good corporate citizen and was going to corporate with the District of Langley.

Because of the heavy laden rolling stock the property has vibrated three quarter of the land away.

The District has a small park called Mariner park in the town of Fort Langley, they park land has also was been vibrated away , The District asks that CN Rail fix there land loss  problem and CN Rail brings many rail cars of rip rap rock and fixes the lost land of the park                                                                                                                 Borley speaks to the West Coast head of Transport Canada Mr. Ivan Mann who tells him to forward a letter to the Canadian Transportation Agency an agency that looks after all commercial transport and investigate and rules on every matter that is presented to them.

Borley forwards a letter that sets out the issue and his demand are

A.   That a breach of contract has occurred by CN Rail over a contract signed between the owner of the property, Othello Enterprises Inc. and CN Rail with the Canadian Government and Transport Canada giving a non removal road to river contract, plus a small amount of cash for a 350foot strip of land for the second main line and the bridge crossing West creek.

C.   The Canadian Transportation Agency writes back and asks Borley to please add more information.

D.   Othello Enterprises Inc. allows the property to be purchased by a friend by way of a Court sale; Gerald Tapp has agreement to return the property back to Borley for five thousand dollars over the purchase price of Twenty thousand dollars. Mr. Tapp becomes a total incubating idiot and starts making demands from the District of Langley and the Canadian Transportation Agency even when he knew that his name was been used to resolve the political position that Borley found himself in

E.    Gerald Tapp goes on a verbal rampage; demanding that the District pays him for some fence repair, that he felt the township owed him, back thirty years ago.

F.    Borley is advised much to his dismay, that Gerald and Robert Tapp have been, a river rat thief on the coast for many years, stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars of log booms  from many of the coast lumber companies and any thing not tied down such as brass metals, Off vassals that were in dry dock and easy excisable by water

Acts that con their promoters

Chuck Berry was a master of deceit this ass hole had his scam down pat.

As a promoter you would contact his booking agent and arrive at a price for the performance of Chuck Berry, say for argument that fee was five thousand dollars for the night but Chuck had in his rider contract that he needed a special Gibson amperfider for him to play through on stage.

Or Berry would arrive early and eyeball the audience and refuse to go on stage unless he receives an extra five thousand dollars or he was out of here. In every case he got his extra moneys because the promoter was fearful of having no show at all,                                                                                                                                                                          Till he meets Borley,  first he said that he needed that special amp,  Well  Borley had that amp sitting on stage for him,  secondly was he would not perform because the crowd was over his estimated number of people that were they to see him, even though the building was within the fire code.

Borley had two of his staff escort Chuck Berry to the stage and they tell him if he did not honor his contract his legs would be broken , sure enough Berry started playing,  he even played a half hour extra, with the two Borley crew member smiling at him through out his set.

One funny story was the brass door of the lawyer firm Davis, Norquist,  Schultz & Company , their building faced onto the corner of 224th and Dewdney trunk in down town Maple Ridge B.C.

The firm taking advantage of the down turn in the Canadian enormity, while other companies were under going at this time choose not to pay their bill to the Borley’s glass company that installing glass work to their new building and placing a large new brass door, Borley talks to the sectary about which lawyer is in charge of the approval of the construction work and who authorized the payment on completion.

The secretary gives the impression that all the partners loved the work and someone would get back to Borley regarding payment of the bill, Harvey being no fool adds the clause all material to be inspected and approved for workmanship quality for sixty days after completion.

Brothers Glass sends out the final bill to the law firm all with no check or any response,

The day of their official opening Borley had enough run around, Borley instructs the head glazer to attend the firm and remove the front brass door and to go drive around the next town of Coquitlam and to call back every half hour.

The distinguished guest start to arrive including the Mayors of the local and adjacent communities when the head lawyer Shultz realized that the doors off and where his door?

Schultz the solicitor for Canada’s worst mass killer of children,

Clifford Olsen,  Schultz calls Harvey and demands the door be replaced,

Harvey makes the full payment demand for the all services and the brass door, he hangs up the phone next the second highest partner Jim Norquest get on the phone and threatens Borley with thief, whereas Harvey ever so calm points out the clause on the bottom of their bill and hang up the phone, shortly after Davies the third partner calls back and tells Harvey that he can come and pickup a check.

Harvey tells him that he wants cash or a double certified check in the amount of fifteen thousand dollars , before  he would consider returning the door and should that not be forth coming Borley tell Davis that he was sending the glazers back to remove all the windows,  to hell if guests were their or not , Davies goes on to complain that he could not get that kind of cash after bank hours, Harvey asks if he invited his banker to the opening and he told yes, Borley tell to get the banker to open up the bank and hangs up.

The Banker Bob Smith opens the bank and the monies are paid and Harvey contacts the glazer to attend the firm’s offices and replaces the door.

Schultz calls Borley and invites him to the grand opening which Harvey accepts the invite and attends wearing a large Brothers Glass name tag.

Another strange Maple Ridge story was a thief steals one of Harvey’s Austin Healey’s sports cars Valued at today price at $30.000.00

Harvey a avid collector of these English Austin Healey sports cars collecting thirteen of these old vintage models such as 104 roadster 106 roadsters 3000 series and the last off line model a 1966 3000 mk 3,  with a six cylinder with tri-curb  and electric overdrive , the same model used to run in the La Mains road race’

Borley has a company called B.B Auto specialist in Maple Ridge. B.C. that company had one of the best car painters in Ivan the Gun plus the top body repairmen in the business.

This gut named Brown brought in his Healey to be fixed and was told by the Gun that the his car was a wreck and needed body  parts would take months to be found maybe in North America or have to be ordered from England.

That client did not realize that Borley owned the business ,  gets tired of waiting for the parts to be found, And take his car off the lot

Brown finds out that Borley has lots of them .

Brown hires a car thief to go down to Harvey’s and steal one of his cars

Harvey was sleeping in his log house on acreage on the Allouette River and had his personal mechanic working on his cars, when this fellow comes down and threatened the mechanic for the keys to one of the Healey, the thief punches Carlos Madeira, all the commotion wakes Borley who witnesses the robbery, charges down the stairs only to see the car flying up this long drive way.

Harvey calls the RCMP and charges out to his pickup grabs Carlos and set out after his car.

Harvey just see the car turning on to the Dewdney Trunk Road and following sees the car turn north on 232, Harvey happens to run into a police crusher and yells that he following his stolen car and that it was heading towards the Albion ferry just up river from his own business , B.B. Auto, Borley takes after in hot pursuit sees the Healey flying across the Lougheed Hwy and sees the car go past the ferry before going out of sight.

By the time Harvey stop at a competitors business  and  is astonished to see  his luxury sports car just inside the main doors , he is told that this guy jumped out of the car and tells the owner , just take any parts needed  to fix the car of  Browns.

Borley goes berserk grabbing a double headed fire axe out of the back of his pickup and starts towards this guy Brown’s Car,  When the full force of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police shows up,  twelve cruisers and surrounds Borley,  The Corporal tells Harvey that they will take over this matter and that he should put down the axe,   a few of the officer think that they could over power him , But Harvey holding the axe at the end of the handle suddenly he drops the axe head down to a punching stance and lunges forward,  the few police that were acting aggressive realize that this guy could start  punching with that axe causing very heavy body damage.

The Corporal tells Borley that they will take care of the problem and please put the axe down.

Borley looks at the officer and tells his Mechanic Carlos to get into the car and take it home, is their any problem with him doing that the RCMP Corporeal says he can go, no plates, no insurance just go.

Harvey looks at his axe and gives it a kiss and throws the axe, all the police surrounding Borley turn and watch as the axe traveling about forty feet lands right in the back of his pickup truck all the officers were amazed that the axe did not hit the side or smash  a window out,  but land straight and true in the back of the pickup.
